Have a question about our tours or rentals? You’ll find the most common questions answered here. Please contact us if your question is not here, so that we will get you your answer!

Do I have to be an athlete to enjoy one of your tours?

Not at all! You need only feel comfortable on a bicycle and be in reasonable physical shape. Even if you have not ridden in years, or decades, bicycle riding is a skill you do not lose. Since we stop frequently for insights, questions, photos, bathroom breaks, as well as snacks, our standard tours are easy-paced.

What should I bring on a tour? What’s the weather like in Toronto?

Generally Toronto is bikeable year round. Bring comfortable clothing for riding, sunscreen, and camera.

Here is what to expect and more on how to dress:

May – August: Dress for warm to hot weather. Average highs 18-27 C or 64-81 F. Great riding weather! Bring a light hood in case of light rain/drizzle. Light cotton clothing is very good, and sandals are acceptable but closed shoes are recommended.

September – Mid October: Moderate to cool temperatures. Average highs 14-21 C or 57-70 F. Great riding weather, and beautiful fall colours! Bring a jacket, an additional layer, a scarf and gloves, just in case.

Mid October – Late March: Cooler weather, but usually very ride able! Average highs -2 – 11 C or 28-53 F. We suggest dressing in layers, with a wind repellent layer on top (as we will warm up when we ride). Your head, hands and feet will get cold first, so bring warm gloves, boots, a scarf and a toque that will fit under a helmet. It’s better to bring more layers than fewer. Your guide will be able to carry any layers that you don’t need.

April: Same as September – Mid October (minus the fall colours!)

What happens if the weather frowns upon us? What about rain?

Our bikes have mudguards, and we supply ponchos so we can ride in light rain and other moderate weather conditions, but we may cancel the ride up to an hour before the start time in the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions (heavy rain or heavy snow). If we cancel the event, those who have booked can be rescheduled (subject to availability) or receive a full refund.

What happens if I have a problem on the ride?

Our staff has the tools and the knowledge to repair a flat or fix a minor mechanical problem. If you cannot complete the ride, we will arrange transportation for you and the bike back to the starting location.

I have young children, can they come along on the tour?

Yes! We do have smaller bikes, bike seats and trail-a-bikes for our younger guests (minimum one year old). We recommend booking a private tour that we can customize for your family’s preferences.

Do you offer custom and private group tours?

Yes! We are happy to adjust a private tour to your riding level, time constraints or specific points of interest. Rates vary depending on the tour and the size of the party.

What are your tour booking and cancellation policies?

For our scheduled tours we require 72 hours notice for a refund, and 24 hours notice to reschedule (except in the case of unsafe weather, please see above). Our booking policies vary for private and group tours (depending on the size of the group), please contact us for details.

Can I buy gift certificates for family and friends?

Absolutely! A bicycle tour or rental is a great gift! You can request certificates here.

What does my bike rental include?

Bike rentals include a bicycle, helmet, and map. Locks are also included with the rental – be sure to ask for one when purchasing your tickets or when you arrive at our shop.

What kinds of hybrid bikes are available for rent?

Our primary rental bike is the Raleigh Detour. It is a comfortable, light hybrid bike equipped with 21 speeds and 700c wheels. Sizes range from XS (14 in) to XL (20in). We also have kids bikes from Raleigh and Trek.

What are the shop hours when I can pick up and return a rental bike?

Our rental shop is open from 9am to 5:45pm April to September. We do conduct rentals in March & October, but shop hours will vary. If you are worried you will be unable to pick your bike up during our opening hours, consider using our delivery service so we can bring your bike to you.

Do you offer tours in languages other than English?

Yes! We offer tours in English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Mandarin & Cantonese. Please contact us to arrange for a tour in another language.
